JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Metadata Discovery
Understanding JD Edwards EnterpriseOne data as easily as all other corporate data sources is a major metadata intelligence challenge.
Without this understanding, companies increase the risk of a critical operational system becoming isolated and difficult to integrate with wider corporate data and systems.
The challenge comes about because of the sophisticated nature of the EnterpriseOne data architecture and the high degree of specialist knowledge required to implement & maintain it.
The solution to the problem lies in ready access to comprehensive metadata in a form that is usable by all of the technical & analyst teams across the company.
Saphir is a unique metadata intelligence tool that helps solve this problem by allowing you to locate and understand the data structures within your EnterpriseOne databases, including any database customisations and extensions that you have made.
Saphir presents data warehouse designers, business analysts and information management teams with full details on the relationships between EnterpriseOne tables, making it easy to understand exactly how to join tables for queries and data extraction
Overall, Saphir enables key staff outside of the EnterpriseOne team to understand and work with EnterpriseOne data architectures with ease and without recourse to EnterpriseOne experts.
Dedicated tool for JD Edwards metadata analysis
Saphir is the only tool capable of producing JD Edwards data models from EnterpriseOne systems as implemented.
Saphir provides a new window onto the EnterpriseOne metadata. By extracting metadata from the EnterpriseOne data dictionary, Saphir lets you browse and search through the EnterpriseOne tables and fields using a powerful and intuitive interface.
Saphir works out where the relationships should be
The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne data dictionary does not hold the definition of relationships between tables - but Saphir solves this using a powerful inference engine to work out the links between EnterpriseOne tables. Seeing how the tables are related gives a new insight into the structure of your EnterpriseOne database.
Saphir will appeal to anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of the EnterpriseOne data structures and is particularly suited to implementation teams, data warehouse designers, business information analysts and members of information management groups.
This example screen shot shows two very powerful features of Saphir for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
The first is the way tables are grouped in the Application Hierarchy, in this case the 'Address Book'.
The second feature is the ability to show related tables for any selected table.
The F0111 - 'Address Book 'Who's Who' been selected in the Application Hierarchy and then the option to show tables related to F0111 has been selected.
The 'popup' window shows 'parent' related tables in the top half and 'child' related at the bottom.
This capability to show related tables is only available because Saphir can automatically infer relationships from the JD Edwards metadata.
This significantly enhances the usability of the standard set of data definitions, which have no relationship information available.
