Siebel, like all such CRM packages, is specifically architected for development of customer facing systems that feed from and to other corporate operational systems.
As many of these corporate systems are ERPs, Saphir for Siebel was developed to provide a full metadata intelligence picture of both the Siebel CRM and the associated ERP environments.
Feedback from Saphir for Siebel customers highlighted specific metadata issues at major Siebel sites seeking to control multiple Siebel implementations.
These problems all centred around the area of UI (screen) to data mapping
Siebel developers wanted a means of easily & rapidly mapping where a given data item in the database is used in the User Interface (UI).
Business Analysts were meantime asking for a more efficient way of defining reports within the Siebel environment, which coincidentally turned out to be the reverse of the developers’ problem i.e. could an easy way be found to map down from screen fields to the underlying database tables.
Pheryt was developed to meet these very specific UI data mapping requirements and complement Saphir for Siebel’s comprehensive metadata intelligence capabilities.
