Saphir works by connecting to and extracting all the metadata from the target application which can be SAP, SAP BW, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Siebel and Oracle eBusiness Suite. The metadata extracted includes all customisations, relationships between tables and in different languages if appropriate. Typically this process takes less than three hours after which time the user has full access to all the metadata information and can use Saphir’s intuitive functionality to rapidly search and filter the information into meaningful subject areas which can then be exported for use with Informatica products as well as with a variety of other modelling and metadata management tools. Saphir 5.5 includes major improvements which add to the overall productivity of the software together with a new Discovery method which simplifies the process and complements Saphir.

Amongst the main enhancements are:

• Greater user control over the level of detail to be exported from Saphir to tools such as IBM System Architect, CA Erwin, Embarcadero ER/Studio, SAP Sybase PowerDesigner, PitneyBowes and ASG. These additional capabilities provide greater flexibility to the end user.

• Advanced facilities to search for specific elements in the application hierarchy as well as in the overview model.
