Finding which Tables are used to feed SAP BW with data is an important element in the tracing of data as it flows through the enterprise. This extraction of data from a SAP Transaction system like ECC to BW is performed by what SAP calls OLTP Sources. Typically these are SAP Functions that are invoked to move the data. The OLTP Sources can also be simple Tables or Views that represent the data to be extracted.
The latest Safyr® release introduces a third Application Hierarchy to the product, complementing the existing SAP Program and Development Class hierarchies. This new feature identifies the BW Extractor functions from a SAP system that are responsible for pulling data from a SAP instance for use in SAP BW.
The new OLTP Source Hierarchy (example screen shown below) is similar to the existing SAP Program Hierarchy in that it shows SAP Components, Development Classes and Function Groups, and in addition shows the Functions that are invoked to perform the extraction of data from SAP to BW. In the example shown, a Function for the extraction of Purchase Prices is shown, together with the 3 SAP tables that are accessed, one of these being the Material Master.
Safyr OLTP Hierarchy
For SAP BW repositories, we have extended the range of table types we extract from a BW system, and included a set of View tables for the first time. Prior Safyr releases did not show BW Views. Details of the table types added are described in the new Safyr User Guide.
This release includes revised extraction capabilities to accomodate the latest versions of both the Salesforce and Siebel applications.
