Silwood Technology Limited, developer of Saphir, the leading metadata discovery solution for the major ERP and CRM applications from SAP and Oracle has received the Informatica Marketplace Seal of Approval ( for the SAP ( and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ( variants of their product.

This accolade represents additional industry recognition of the value of Saphir in making it easier and faster to accurately pinpoint the exact tables required to help customers deliver critical data-oriented projects. The Informatica Marketplace Seal of Approval is the result of a rigorous testing and validation process lasting up to 30 days by the Informatica Marketplace Certification Team. The validation process is based on a variety of criteria, including functional specifications, assessment of architecture and methodology as well as the validation of specific use cases with product demonstrations.

“This announcement is further testimony to the value of our unique approach to metadata discovery in the world’s largest and most sophisticated ERP and CRM applications from SAP and Oracle”, says Graham Simpson, Managing Director of Silwood Technology. “We give customers the ability to easily make use of the metadata in their SAP and Oracle applications to speed up the delivery of a variety of projects including, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Master Data Management, Application Rationalisation and Consolidation, Data and Application Integration, as well as Data Archiving and other Application and Information Lifecycle management initiatives. Combining the functionality of Saphir with the capabilities of Informatica’s market leading products allows customers to have greater confidence in their ability to further leverage their investment in applications from SAP and Oracle without spending long periods in the data discovery phase of a project.”

Saphir works by connecting to and extracting all the metadata from the target application which can be SAP, SAP BW, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Siebel and Oracle eBusiness Suite. The metadata extracted includes all customisations, relationships between tables and in different languages if appropriate. Typically this process takes less than three hours after which time the user has full access to all the metadata information and can use Saphir’s intuitive functionality to rapidly search and filter the information into meaningful subject areas which can then be exported for use with Informatica products as well as with a variety of other modelling and metadata management tools. By making the metadata available to non technical specialists outside of the application environment Saphir allows for easier sharing and re-use of metadata helping it to become a more valuable corporate IT asset.

“The Saphir Metadata Discovery Blocks represent excellent examples of the tools and utilities available on the Informatica Marketplace that help customers execute their data integration initiatives more quickly and easily,” said Scott Geffre, senior director, Cloud Business Operations and Marketplace, Informatica. “By achieving the Seal of Approval, prospects gain confidence in knowing that the Saphir tools have been validated by Informatica engineers and that they meet our quality standards.”
